Study Recruitment

Leaving a Legacy - Donald Bell

Gold Addy Award Winner for Public Service Announcement - 2025

This video was created to engage the LGBTQIA+ community with All of Us, an important health initiative designed to drive health care innovation by enrolling one million participants and gathering diverse health data.

In collaboration with Stanford, PRIDEnet was a short, documentary-style film featuring Donald M. Bell—a civil rights activist and All of Us advocate. Donald shared his experiences growing up as a gay Black man in Chicago. He also explained the purpose and benefits of All of Us and encouraged LGBTQIA+ individuals—a community historically underrepresented in health research—to enroll, knowing their participation can help advance scientific understanding and improve health outcomes.

The resulting video is emotional, impactful, and sincere. In 2025, it received a Gold Addy Award for Public Service Announcement.

National Firefighter Registry for Cancer

Award of Distinguished 2023: Society for Technical Communication

This video was produced to encourage firefighters to enroll in the National Firefighter Registry (NFR). This nationwide initiative aims to better understand and address cancer risks among firefighters. To create a compelling call to action, the team conducted interviews with firefighters from across the country, capturing their personal insights on the importance of participating in the registry. We staged a variety of shots at a local fire station using an iPad as a focal point. Interview footage was then superimposed onto the iPad screen, seamlessly connecting remote interviews to an authentic, real-world setting. The visual storytelling was further enhanced by layering imagery of firefighters with smoke effects and incorporating impactful sound design, including sirens and other sound effects. The project was recognized with an Award of Distinguished by the Society for Technical Communication in 2023, underscoring the power of creative storytelling in advancing public health initiatives.

Learn About the NHANES Study

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is one of the most valuable resources for understanding the health of people in the United States. To highlight NHANES’ importance and encourage participation, RTI Video & Animation partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to create a compelling animated video. The video explains how NHANES works, why it matters, and how the data collected helps shape public health policies and programs nationwide.

2025 National Firefighter Registry for Cancer

This video was produced as a continuation of the study initiative to encourage firefighters to enroll in the National Firefighter Registry (NFR). This nationwide initiative aims to better understand and address cancer risks among firefighters. The team traveled to Irvine, CA to capture firefighters in action and highlight wildfire footage. This was particularly relevant considering the devastating fires occurring at the beginning of 2025 in Los Angeles.

TV Commercials

Letravin: FDA Dosage Form Study

These two videos were created as simulated television commercials for FDA-funded studies. The purpose of the studies was to assess how different factors such as dosage form and information presentation influence consumer behavior.

The goal was to create high-quality, realistic commercials that participants would perceive as genuine TV ads. To achieve this, the team conducted an in-depth analysis of current pharmaceutical advertising trends. They developed fictional brand and generic names for the mock medication and crafted multiple concept scenarios.

Ludalti: FDA Implied Claims Study

Once the final storylines were selected, the team identified and scouted filming locations, captured reference photos, and created detailed storyboards and scripts. Actors were then screened, auditioned, and cast. Productions were completed over two days across multiple locations.

The final videos received highly positive feedback from study participants, who noted that the commercials closely resembled real prescription drug advertisements they had seen on television.

Informational & Educational

Expanding Immigrant Integration in Adult Education

Award of Merit 2023: Society for Technical Communication

The purpose for the Expanding Immigrant Integration in Adult Education video was to educate viewers about immigrant integration and explain how programs like IELCE and IET are working together to provide training and resources to immigrants and refugees when they arrive in the United States.

CDC Project Firstline Infection Risks

This animated motion graphics video is for CDC’s Project Firstline, an educational resource for healthcare workers. My team produced several videos currently playing on the CDC's YouTube Channel and social media sites.

Promotional & Awareness

RTI Tangerine Software

Award of Excellence 2023: Society for Technical Communication

RTI’s Video & Animation team created a series of animated videos to promote open-source software Tangerine, Tangerine: Teach, and Tangerine: Coach, a formative assessment software that collects and analyzes classroom data to help teachers, educators, and students improve their skills. The goal was to encourage educators to subscribe and implement the software, which will support RTI International’s efforts to cultivate education worldwide. From concept to script to art that was hand drawn and animated by our staff, this campaign was designed to reach disadvantaged and low-income regions across the world to provide tools for educators.

Step Out of The Frame

 Silver Telly Award 2024

Step Out of the Frame won a Silver Telly Award in 2024. Receiving over 13,000 entries globally from 6 continents and all 50 states, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world.

The Step Out of the Frame animation was produced for Family and Youth Services (FYSB). The goal was to create an animated video to inform teenagers about the potential negative effects of social media use. From the initial concept to the final frame, everyone collaborated to produce a successful product through a manner and a message that speaks to teenagers at their level. FYSB hopes the animation will improve the mental health of youth by helping them avoid unhealthy consequences that are often associated with social media.

Video Scenarios for Online Training Modules

Live Action Training Modules - CDC

Healthcare Worker Training Video-Excerpts

This is a compilation of five excerpts from a series of live-action training videos that were produced for the CDC aimed at helping healthcare workers reduce germ transmission in clinical settings as part of Project Firstline.

Over the course of five days in Atlanta, GA, the team filmed 18 videos while simultaneously capturing still images for additional digital training assets. Production took place at two key locations and involved a 40-person team, including RTI production staff, CDC subject matter experts, professional actors, technical crew, with extensive equipment support.

Each video depicts a real-world healthcare scenario where germs are unintentionally spread due to human error—These videos are featured as part of a computer-based training course to support CDC’s infection control education for frontline healthcare workers.

Independent Short Film

The Wire

Winner Coach’s Award Labfest 2023

This film is a micro budget independent film that I produced as part of an acting studio festival competition. I have produced other independent episodic films and chose this one to highlight as it is short and original creative content. The intent for including this film isn’t to highlight production quality, but to highlight my experience in other production roles and my creative skills that I don’t always include on a producer’s resume. In addition to producing the film, my roles on this production were: Creative Concept, Artistic Design, Writer, Director, Props, Wardrobe, Casting, Video Editor, Voiceover Narrator, Music/Sound, and Onscreen Talent.

For this film competition, the requirements were: 1) the film had to be a maximum of 3 mins including credits, 2) the film footage and sound must be filmed using a smartphone, 3) the film must incorporate the theme of “Under the Wire.”

Out of over 40 films submitted to compete, “The Wire” was selected to be showcased in the top 10 during LabFest Film Competition and won 1 of the 3 Coach’s Awards. I am currently working on additional editing, visual effects, and cleanup as I am preparing this for the festival circuit 2026.
